In the northern coast of Ogliastra the beaches belong to the territory of the following villages: Baunei, Lotzorai and Girasole. The first one is Santa Maria Navarrese with its fine sand and green sea. From here on the shore of Lotzorai and Girasole begins, which is one strip of white sand but with different names according to geographical positions: Tancau, Pollu, Lido delle Rose (Is Orrosas), Iscrixedda and Isola Manna (or la Capannina).

Tortolì's shore is one of the most beautiful in Sardinia. The first stretch is dominated by Arbatax's red rocks; afterwards it becomes a series of coves and small bays (Calamoresca and Porto Frailis) that turn again into one strip of white sand and crystal-clear sea: San Gemiliano and Lido di Orrì.

From that point on the coast changes into a wild, uncontaminated and rarely known shore. After Orrì, the beach of Cea appears, a cove marked by two stacks of red porphyd. In the territory of Bari Sardo you will find also the beach of the Tower of Barì with its peculiar ochre pebbles and emerald sea.

The coast of Cardedu is very particular: tiny inlets alternate with stretches of sand, reefs follow grey stones, thus shaping a varied seascape. Foddini is a unique beach due to the presence of a small lake, Museddu and Perdepera still have a sandy seashore; instead, the wide Coccorocci consists of porphyritic grey pebbles. Moreover Cardedu sea is usually chosen by many surfers because the sirocco wind blows here around 15 knots.

Once you have passed Mount Ferru, Marina di Tertenia, one of the most beautiful and uncontaminated shores of Sardinia, opens wide in front of you: twelve kilometres of white and fine sand alternate with red porphyd reefs. Shaped as an amphitheatre, you will find one after the other: Foxi Manna and its transparent seabed, Melisenda, a stretch of sand dominated by the XVIIIth century S. Giovanni tower and Barisoni, where the water is blue and green.
